Fragrance Concentration

Fragrance is comprised of 3 main components; the aroma oil (which is the scent), water and alcohol. Perfumes come in a few different concentrations which each serve a unique purpose, with specific, carefully planned ratios to ensure maximum productivity. Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Cologne, Eau Fraiche, Extrait, Extrait de Parfum, or Parfum are the various concentrations to choose from. Concentration refers to the perfume’s strength in terms of projection & longevity- perfume concentration will influence how long the scent lasts on skin or in the air.

Extrait, Extrait de Parfum, or Parfum

Parfum, Extrait, or Extrait de Parfum all have the highest fragrance concentrations. These formulas will contain anywhere from 20 to 30 perfect perfume (or more) oil causing the concentration levels to be much greater. Parfums and extraits can last up to eight hours. Due to the high concentration, these potent variations are more expensive and usually come in smaller bottles however the fragrance lasts longer; therefore, requires less application.

Eau de Cologne

Eau de Cologne

Eau de cologne (aka EDC) has a low concentration of aroma oil- only 2 to 4 percent. Like an after-shave or a body spray, eau de cologne will last about 2 hours on the skin and won’t project very far. It's less expensive than other formats because of the added water and alcohol content. This type of scent requires more applications; thus, the bottles are often larger. These are well suited for those with sensitive skin or delicate smell.

  • Low concentration.
  • 2%-4% concentration.
  • Performs lightly & soft projection.
  • 2-3 Hour wear.

These are ideal for warm weather and lighter days!

  • 1%-3% Concentration.
  • Performs subtly & soft projection.
